Dill Potato Fritters. Crispy, dill-flavourful potato morsels of heaven! This is a great appetizer or side dish. Great for hosting a party or making ahead for meal prep.

The taste of the fresh dill and onion with those crispy shredded potatoes is honestly a flavour explosion! It's like a mini potato latke but with dill and in mini form so it's easier to eat! That's why they would make a great party appetizer.

    dill potato fritters

These dill potato fritters are very easy to make if you don't mind grating (you can use a food processor to make the process faster). I also love that these little fritters are easy to flip in the frying pan and cook much faster than potato pancakes.

    What's a potato fritter?

It's basically shredded potato mixed with flour, a combining agent like egg, salt fried in some oil.

    Can I freeze potato fritters?

Yes, you can even freeze these little fritters in a resealable container or bag and whip them out when you're ready to cook them in the pan or oven. You may need to defrost them a little bit but I wouldn't let them totally thaw or they could lose their shape and become a pile of mush!

    For this recipe

You will need the following ingredients:

    Cooking oil, as needed

    Potato fritter batter:

    • 1 cup fresh dill, finely chopped
    • 5 medium size yellow potatoes, peeled and grated
    • One cooking onion, grated
    • 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 egg

    How to make Potato Fritters

    1. In a large mixing bowl, mix all your ingredients, except for avocado oil, together until well combined.
    2. In a large frying pan set on medium high heat, add some oil. Scoop a tablespoon of batter into the hot pan and repeat process until your pan is full while giving each fritter enough space.
    3. Fry each fritter until golden brown on both sides. You may need to adjust temperature. Once golden brown, transfer to a rack to drain oil.  Serve with your favourite condiment and enjoy!
