Maple Soy Glazed Tofu. Extra firm tofu glazed in a simple maple syrup soy sauce. A delicious plant-based protein that is easy to make and works well as a side dish. Great for dinner or lunch. Works well as leftovers too.

    Maple Soy Glazed Tofu

Sometimes when I don't feel like having meat, tofu is my go to source for protein. It's delicious when you marinate it right. Tofu absorbs flavours well, so it's a great vegan protein to switch up the flavour profile to whatever you feel like whether that sweet and salty or more savoury.

I made this maple soy sesame tofu for my husband who likes to have tofu on a regular basis. He doesn't eat a lot of meat but he still has it from time to time, just not a lot.

    Maple Soy Glazed Tofu

I wanted to make this tofu more tasty and versatile so he could simply pair it with white rice, veggies and bring it to the office for work or have it at home.

This dish takes 10 minutes to prepare and about 30 minutes to marinate. For optimal flavour, marinate it for 60 minutes or overnight.

I also share many other tofu recipes so don't forget to check them out below!

You will need the following ingredients for my maple soy sauce tofu:

    • 500 grams organic smoked tofu, sliced ¼ inch thick

    Maple soy tofu marinade:

    • 1 tsp garlic, minced
    • 1 tsp ginger powder or ½ tbsp ginger, sliced
    • 1.5 tbsp low sodium soy sauce
    • ½ tbsp sesame oil
    • 2 tbsp avocado oil
    • ¼ tsp black pepper
    • 1 tbsp maple syrup
    • 1 tbsp water

How to make maple and soy tofu

    1. In a resealable container, add sliced tofu, garlic, ginger powder, soy sauce, avocado oil, sesame oil, and black pepper. Seal with lid and marinate for at least an hour or overnight.
    2. In a small bowl, mix together maple syrup and water.
    3. In a skillet set over medium heat, fry tofu on both sides until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes each side. Once golden brown, lower heat pour maple syrup mixture over top and allow it to simmer for 1 minute. Serve hot with rice and veggies, enjoy!
