Ingredients

  • 1.35 lb pork shoulder or substitute with pork belly (thinly sliced)
  • 2 teaspoon vegetable oil or any neutral tasting oil
  • ½ yellow onion julienned
  • 1 green onions finely chopped
  • 1 cup carrot peeled and thinly sliced (optional)

Optional:

Jeyuk bokkeum sauce:

Instructions

  • If needed, thinly slice pork shoulder. Tip: Freeze pork shoulder for 30 minutes and it’ll be easier to cut thinly.
  • In a bowl, mix sauce ingredients. Set aside.
  • Over low medium heat in a large pan, add oil. Fry pork until only 50% cooked.
  • Mix in onions and carrots (and optionally cabbage). Cook for 1 minute.
  • Mix in sauce. Cook until sauce thickens slightly, uncovered. Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. Remove off heat. Enjoy!

Notes

Tip: For a much easier and quicker preparation time, buy hot pot style or pre-cut pork shoulder which is available at most Asian grocers.
