Korean Street Toast with Ham. Buttered toasted bread with a cabbage omelette, cheddar cheese, ham, fresh cabbage, ketchup and sugar. A delicious satisfying sandwich that is very popular on the streets of Korea. Usually eaten for breakfast or lunch. Ready in just 20 minutes!
In a medium size bowl or measuring cup with a lip, add 1 cup of thinly sliced cabbage and crack two eggs in as well. Whisk with chopsticks until cabbage and eggs are mixed completely.
Then on a large non-stick pan set over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp of the butter and evenly coat the pan with it. Place your bread on top and toast on both sides until all four pieces are evenly golden brown. Remove and place onto a plate.
In the same pan over medium high heat, pour half of your omelette mixture into the pan and shape it into the same shape of your bread. Pour the remaining mixture in a different area of the pan and repeat the same process. Fry your omelette on both sides until cooked. Then on each omelette, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top and let the cheese melt. Lower heat to medium so you don’t burn the omelette. Once melted, place each omelette cheese side up on a slice of toast.
Next fry your ham until it’s hot and slightly browned over medium heat. Once it’s warmed up, place it over the cheesy omelette.
Squeeze 1 tbsp of ketchup over top and sprinkle ⅛ tsp sugar over the ham. Then place ½ cup of the remaining fresh cabbage over top. Closing the sandwich with the remaining piece of toast. Repeat for the other sandwich. Slice in half and enjoy!
