Sweet Crispy Asian Lemon Wings. Crispy chicken wings marinated in a delicious garlic ginger soy sauce and tossed in a zesty sweet lemon juice. An easy appetizer or main dish! My crispy Asian chicken wings take just over 30 minutes. I share how to air fry or deep fry in the instructions below.
In a large mixing bowl, marinate wings with the Marinade ingredients as listed above for 10 minutes at room temperature.
In a small bowl, mix lemon juice, sugar and salt in a small bowl. To help dissolve the sugar, feel free to microwave for 30 seconds. Set aside.
In a medium bowl or a large Ziplock bag, add cornstarch or potato starch. Coat marinated wings shaking off excess starch and transfer the coated wings to a large baking sheet pan lined with parchment paper, so they don't stick. Note: Do not simply dump the starch into the bowl of wings with the wet marinade or wings will not be crispy.
Air Frying Method:Lightly spray air fryer basket with vegetable oil or any neutral oil. Place wings to air fryer basket in a single layer giving each piece enough space. Air fry wings at 400 degrees F for 16 minutes, flipping over halfway and lightly spraying oil on the wings in between. Repeat this process for remaining wings but reduce the air frying time to 6-7 minutes per side until golden brown because the air fryer will get hotter with each batch. The internal temperature of cooked wings is 165 F with a meat thermometer or until juices run clear.Deep Frying Method:Heat 2 cups neutral oil over 350 degrees F or medium heat in a large pot or pan. Once the oil is hot enough, carefully lower the coated wings one at a time and fry in small batches. Fry for 8 minutes in total, flipping over halfway. Remove and transfer wings to a wire rack or a baking sheet lined with paper towel for excess oil to drip off.
Transfer hot wings to a large mixing bowl. Pour sweet lemon sauce overtop and give it a gently toss. Garnish with green onions (optional). Enjoy!
