Ingredients

  • 1 avocado

Instructions

  • Start with a ripened avocado and remove the little seed on top of it
  • Have a wooden (not plastic) chopping board ready and a sharp paring knife. I would not suggest using any other kind of knife.
  • Slice your avocado in half and remove the internal seed with your knife and discard it.
  • Then with one halve, carefully peel away the hard skin. Then place the peeled avocado half flat face down on the board. Tip: I would suggest having short finger nails for this to avoid marking up your soft avocado
  • Turn the avocado so that it sits horizontally. Then make vertical slices across the avocado that are .25 mm thick. Always glide your down from the top downwards to ensure one smooth cut. This technique also ensures your slices do not move.
  • Once you have your slices, using your fingers fan them out slowly and carefully.
  • Then at one end, curl the edges towards the middle to create a circular rose. Finally flip open the "petals" if desired. And now you have a rose!
  • To transfer the rose, use a thin flat metal spatula to slide under the rose.
