This dragon fruit apple smoothie is so refreshing and fruity as it contains a variety of fruits that are so good for you. The main star is pitaya or dragon fruit! I love this fruit so much. I try to have it weekly.
My favourite dragon fruit are the yellow ones as they taste like a fruity honey. If you've never tried it you must! There are many other varieties of dragon fruit but the one I'm using for this recipe is the red one with red meat known as "Dragon fruit Hylocereus"

How can you tell when a dragon fruit is ripe?
Look for dragon fruit where the skin colour is even and that there are no uneven blotches of colour. The fruit shouldn't be too firm or it's not ripe. However if the skin is soft and shriveled that means it is overripe.
