    Dragon fruit smoothie

Dragon Fruit Smoothie. Delicious, easy to make and exotic! If you want to change up your smoothie game, this is the way to do it.

This dragon fruit apple smoothie is so refreshing and fruity as it contains a variety of fruits that are so good for you. The main star is pitaya or dragon fruit! I love this fruit so much. I try to have it weekly.

My favourite dragon fruit are the yellow ones as they taste like a fruity honey. If you've never tried it you must! There are many other varieties of dragon fruit but the one I'm using for this recipe is the red one with red meat known as "Dragon fruit Hylocereus"

What fruit goes well with dragon fruit?

From experimenting with dragon fruit, I've found that mango, apples, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries to pair exceptionally well with this tropical fruit.

Can we eat dragon fruit with milk?

Yes! It pairs well with milk especially plant based milks like oat, soy or almond milk.

What is the best season for dragon fruit?

Summer is the best season to buy dragon fruit.

How can you tell when a dragon fruit is ripe?

Look for dragon fruit where the skin colour is even and that there are no uneven blotches of colour. The fruit shouldn't be too firm or it's not ripe. However if the skin is soft and shriveled that means it is overripe.

Where can I buy dragon fruit?

Dragon fruit is becoming more available in Canada. You can find it at most Asian grocers like T&T or at certain western grocers. There are many different varieties to choose from!

What can I do with leftover dragon fruit?

You can cut it into cubes and freeze them in a reusable container for future smoothies or recipes.  We usually do this with any fruit that's about to go bad so we can have them in our smoothies.  This reduces food waste and saves money.
