This strawberry milk is so flavorful and simple to make at home with minimal ingredients. It features milk, strawberry, ice and white granulated sugar or a sweetener of your choice.

This dessert beverage takes less than 5 minutes to make and you just need a blender, food processor or a muddler to crush the strawberries. You could even simply finely chop the berries with a knife.

    image of ripe strawberries

The best part about this fruit milk recipe is that it's so good that you won't have to buy store-bought again, which is usually filled with preservatives and colouring agents!

It's also important to use fresh, quality, and ripened strawberries that smell sweet and have a vibrant red color. The best time to source good strawberries is strawberry season, between June to July.

    Ingredients & Substitutes

Please scroll down to below recipe card for exact measurements.ย

    • Fresh Strawberries: that are ripened, vibrant in color and smell sweet through the package.
    • White Granulated Sugar: or substitute with maple syrup, cane sugar or any liquid sweetener.
    • Milk: or substitute with a plain plant-based milk like oat milk for a dairy-free option. I would avoid almond milk, soy milk or coconut milk because they have a slight taste to them.
    • Ice cubes (optional): if you prefer the strawberry milk colder.

    Expert Tips

    • Use fresh ripened vibrant red strawberries for best taste!
    • Chop the strawberries into quarters or into even smaller pieces before crushing.ย This helps you crush the berries into a purรฉe unless you're using a blender or food processor.
    • Make sure the strawberries are well crushed or blended so youโ€™re not drinking chunksย unless you prefer that.ย
    • If you have a blender or food processor, use that for an extra smooth strawberry purรฉe.

    Instructions

Below are step-by-step instructions on how to makeย strawberry milk:

In a tall glass, add chopped strawberries and white granulated sugar and crush them with a muddler until theyโ€™re purรฉed. If you don't have a muddler, blend the strawberries and sugar in a blender or food processor or finely chop the berries with a knife and transfer to the drinking glass.

    Storage

    • Leftover strawberry milk will last up to 4 days stored in an airtight container or jar in the fridge. Before enjoying, give it another mix.
    • Freezer-friendly? I don't recommend freezing strawberry milk as the freezer will change the texture of the fruit and milk.

    Pairing Suggestions

This strawberry milk serves well with:

    • fresh fruit
    • cakes, pastries, cookies or other baked goods and desserts
    • pancakes, waffles or crepes
    • bread or toast with jam
    • cereal, oatmeal, muesli

    FAQ

Can I make this in advance?

Strawberry milk can be made up to 4 days in advance and stored in an airtight container in the fridge. To enjoy, mix the milk with the strawberries again.

Can I substitute the strawberries with other fruits?ย

Yes, feel free to substitute with ripe watermelon, banana, blueberries, or peaches.

Strawberries are the absolute best. We buy so many of them, because my kids all LOVE them! I know they'd be so excited if I served them up some of this strawberry milk too!
