This strawberry milk is so flavorful and simple to make at home with minimal ingredients. It features milk, strawberry, ice and white granulated sugar or a sweetener of your choice.
This dessert beverage takes less than 5 minutes to make and you just need a blender, food processor or a muddler to crush the strawberries. You could even simply finely chop the berries with a knife.
The best part about this fruit milk recipe is that it's so good that you won't have to buy store-bought again, which is usually filled with preservatives and colouring agents!
It's also important to use fresh, quality, and ripened strawberries that smell sweet and have a vibrant red color. The best time to source good strawberries is strawberry season, between June to July.
Ingredients & Substitutes
Please scroll down to below recipe card for exact measurements.
- Fresh Strawberries: that are ripened, vibrant in color and smell sweet through the package.
- White Granulated Sugar: or substitute with maple syrup, cane sugar or any liquid sweetener.
- Milk: or substitute with a plain plant-based milk like oat milk for a dairy-free option. I would avoid almond milk, soy milk or coconut milk because they have a slight taste to them.
- Ice cubes (optional): if you prefer the strawberry milk colder.
Expert Tips
- Use fresh ripened vibrant red strawberries for best taste!
- Chop the strawberries into quarters or into even smaller pieces before crushing. This helps you crush the berries into a purée unless you're using a blender or food processor.
- Make sure the strawberries are well crushed or blended so you’re not drinking chunks unless you prefer that.
- If you have a blender or food processor, use that for an extra smooth strawberry purée.
Instructions
Below are step-by-step instructions on how to make strawberry milk:
- In a tall glass, add chopped strawberries and white granulated sugar and crush them with a muddler until they’re puréed. If you don't have a muddler, blend the strawberries and sugar in a blender or food processor or finely chop the berries with a knife and transfer to the drinking glass.
- Optional: add ice cubes on top of the strawberry purée if you want it colder.
- Pour cold milk over the puréed strawberry mixture and ice and mix to enjoy!
Storage
- Leftover strawberry milk will last up to 4 days stored in an airtight container or jar in the fridge. Before enjoying, give it another mix.
- Freezer-friendly? I don't recommend freezing strawberry milk as the freezer will change the texture of the fruit and milk.
